What is autosomal recessive PKD?

It is the rarest genetic disorder that affects 1 in every 20,000 children. ARPKD is responsible for the formation of the fluid-like cysts on the kidneys of the new-born baby or a fetus that makes their kidneys too big. The child with the Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease has poor kidney functioning, even inside the womb. That’s most experts consider it as the “infantile PKD” because this health condition can be diagnosed in the early stages of life.

Poor kidney function can cause breathing problems and can turn to be a life-threatening situation for the kidneys. According to the trusted sources, around 30% of the new-borns with ARPKD die within the first week of life. If the child survives within the first few weeks of life, then the child has a good chance of surviving in adulthood. However, children or young adults with ARPKD will need medical treatment to live a better-quality life.

For the occurrence of this health, both the parents must have and pass the mutates gene. In some cases, only one parent carries the mutated gene and in that condition, the child will not get the disorder, but they will get the mutated gene, and the child becomes the carrier of the disorder. The mutated gene passes further to the next generation.

ARPKD progresses to kidney failure, but the duration may differ according to the health condition. The sooner a fetus is identified in the womb, the better the treatment will be delivered to the child. Getting Ayurvedic treatment for this health condition may increase the child’s survival rate. Ayurvedic treatment involves all the specific health care facility to help their parents to manage their child’s PKD naturally.

What is Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease?

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease or ADPKD is a progressive disorder in which there is the formation of the cysts on the kidneys that enlarges them with other organs like the liver, pancreas, and spleen. Approximately 50% of patients with ADPKD are advised by the allopathic doctors to undergo renal replacement therapy by the age of 60 years.

The majority of the kidney PKD patients experience this type of PKD, and they may experience pain in the abdomen, flank, and back. In the initial stages, these are some of the most common complaints, and universally, it is present in the patients with the ADPKD. Pain and an uncomfortable sensation may result in the formation of the large polycystic cysts on the liver.

The pain in the abdominal area occurs due to the following reasons:

• Enlargement of one or more cysts on one or both kidneys
• In some cases, the cysts get filled with the blood and that can lead to the gross hematuria.
• UTI or urinary tract infections like acute pyelonephritis, infected cysts, perinephric abscess
